    IMPORTANT

This is slightly different from what I usually post, but this is a radfem blog and I want to speak about the hypersexualization of Native women and girls because this was posted by Instagram user coco_of_vlc:

    image
    image

As some of you may know, Native women and girls deal with increased rates of sexual violence, and this appropation and sexualization of Native cultures only fuels this violence.

More reading here, here, and here.

In coco_of_vlc’s post, she also used lyrics from one of Jay Z’s songs, which contains the racial slur “squaw”.

Many of realnativesonly’s followers tried to point out how disrespectful and harmful the photo and caption was, yet coco_of_vlc ignored them, despite acknowledging and the fact that her post was having that affect:

This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE and RACIST. Please take a stand for your fellow Native sisters. As a woc myself, I know how frustrating it is to be left out of Feminist efforts and discussions.

Please take the time to report the image, explain to coco_of_vlc why she should remove the image, as well as the photographer, thinkoutside_daboxx.

Also, do the same for this post:
